The majority of development arises from collaboration between competent colleagues who deal with exciting and challenging tasks each and every day. We work in an open office environment where people are expected to ask for help and get involved in other people's work. This demands respect for other people's areas of expertise – but we see this as a professionally enriching experience.
Rotating internally in the organisation
At Oticon it is people's talents and expertise that govern the tasks they are asked to fulfill. We focus more on the person than their formal educational background. An important part of personal and professional development is to pursue one's unique talents and interests. This is why we make a point of offering people the opportunity to rotate internally when the opportunity arises, for instance, when one employee moves from IT into Human Resources, and another employee from mechanical development takes over his position.
